Where did you learn to cook sushi?

I don't have many "virgin" voyages left....I have kids, been married, been on an airplane, been to a drag club, etc, etc....So about the only two that I have are skydiving and sushi.  Well, cross one more off the list!  After about a year of rescheduling dates, Marla and I have finally been able to find a date that worked!  Amen!  Throw in some Amy, Kim, and Emma, and it was one of the best three hour dinners I have ever had.

Marla picked this adorable new place in the city called Fin (so new it doesn't even have a website yet).  I think it sat all of 50 people, very intimate, and very fun!  The menu is HUGE and very overwhelming when you don't know half the words on it.  My guides for the evening suggested a milder roll to start with, and it was so yummy!  A Spicey California Roll...  My adventurous side got a hold of my, and before you can say Saki I was eating raw spicy tuna with garlic butter and something with soft-shell crab and avocado...The above is a brown rice vegan roll in a sweet something sauce.  $30 and 3 bottles of wine later (wine not consumed by me, but by three others who shall remain nameless)...we were stuffed and very happy.

Perhaps my two favorite parts of the evening:  The RUDE lady at the table next to us who made a snide comment about our table of 5 having three bottles of wine.  I thought Amy was going to jump at her when I told the table what happened. 

And then there was the balding little man at the chef's counter who was trying to be ultra cool about sitting right there...when he opened his mouth and said, "Where did you learn to cook sushi?"  Umm...hello?  You just lost all your cool points.  This, of course, turned into 20 minutes of entertainment for us..

Kim:  Did he just say what I think he said?

Me:  He did, how did you learn to cook sushi?

Kim:  Now that's funny.

Me:  That's so the next tag line for my blog.

(break-off into conversation with Marla about how I have a blog and how she missed the announcement)

Me:  I am writing this down so I remember tomorrow.

Kim:  You need to follow that up with, "It's raw, bitches."

Amy:  And then "At Taco Burrito King"

So funny...those girls crack me up.

So, another bucket list item done, and hearing to hoping it happens several more times!
